Country band Lilly of the West to release a new album for Christmas

A Christmas like never before: Lilly of the West’s country album enters our homes for the holidays

This Christmas will be different. The anticipated holidays are arriving with a unique gift: an album of the coziest Christmas carols, but presented in a country rhythm. Christmas with Lilly of the West was an idea by the charming Lilly Drumeva, who shared that after 12 albums with her band Lilly of the West in country, swing and blues styles, it is now time for their first Christmas selection.

The holiday assortment includes ever-loved ever-greens like: Joy to the World, White Christmas, Winter Wonderland, Silver Bells, Jingle Bells, Rockin’ around the Christmas Tree and more – all recreated in new arrangements in the band’s signature country style.

Music lovers will appreciate the German and French classics that Christmas with Lilly of the West will bring: Minuit, chretiens by Adolfe Adam and Stille Nacht by Franz Xaver Gruber, the gospel hymn Go Tell it on the Mountain, as well as Canadian composer Leonard Cohen’s emblematic Hallelujah. Recording was done by Stanislav Donev (Retro Studio) and Stamen Yanev (mixing and mastering), with special contribution by foreign guest musicians who all created the album… in the summer.

‘In order to launch a holiday album in December, we needed to record it in July,’ Lilly Drumeva shared, ‘That’s how I had to sing Christmas carols at 37 degrees centigrade at the studio and in beachwear, but to feel the Christmas spirit, we had put up a Christmas tree with white snow.’

The result is a musical splendor in a stylish collection – Christmas with Lilly of the West – which includes a unique bonus: a beautiful booklet of sheet music and lyrics for the songs that are part of the Christmas country collection. ‘This way any musician can play and anyone can sing the carols in our assortment,’ Lilly Drumeva said, ‘Because Christmas is, above all, exactly that: sharing life’s greatest wonders, and art is one of them.’

Christmas with Lilly of the West will be presented live in front of friends and fans on December 1st 2024 at the Art Club Sofia.

Lilly of the West is the most successful Bulgarian country band, created in 1996 in the city of Sofia. After releasing their debut album, the musicians took part in prestigious festivals across Europe and North America. In 1998 they were elected “best country and bluegrass group in Europe”. They have also won awards by the World Country and Bluegrass Association in Nashville. Lilly of the West perform a rich repertoire of country, bluegrass, swing, jazz, Irish and Bulgarian folk and more; they have issued nine albums that were highly appraised by international music magazines.
