Lilly of the West makes two new music videos and two new songs

The famous Bulgarian country band made a music video for the song Rocks, Salt and Nails. It is part of the Swings & Heartaches album, which came out in 2020. Through it the musicians pay homage to the great composers of the 40s, 50s and 60s and the country, western-swing, jazz, blues and rock ‘n’ roll genres. The video was filmed at the About Last Night club and in the Doctor’s Garden park in the city of Sofia in February. Vladimir Vasilev, with whom the band have collaborated for many years, was director and cameraman. The makeup was done by Greta Velikova. Another music video for the song After you’ve Gone from the same album is expected to be released in May.

Parallel to that, Lilly of the West recorded two new songs as well – Amazing Grace and Auld Lang Syne, which will be included in their Christmas album – Christmas with Lilly of the West. The recordings were made by Stanislav Donev at Retro Studio, and mixing and mastering was done by Stamen Yanev. Pepa Malina, the famed Czech violinist, took part in the production as well. The arrangements – a new interpretation of the well-known hymns – are the band’s very own work.

Lilly of the West is the most successful Bulgarian country band, created in 1996 in the city of Sofia. After releasing their debut album, the musicians took part in prestigious festivals across Europe and North America. In 1998 they were elected “best country and bluegrass group in Europe”. They have also won awards by the World Country and Bluegrass Association in Nashville. Lilly of the West perform a rich repertoire of country, bluegrass, swing, jazz, Irish and Bulgarian folk and more; they have issued nine albums that were highly appraised by international music magazines. Lilly Drumeva-O’Reilly is founder and front musician, she is also a famous journalist, producer, impresario and songwriter, as well as author of a book – Mood with Lilly – Music in 50 Themes, and organizer of the international Sofia Singer Songwriter Fest.
