Lilly Drumeva-O’Reilly was elected to the board of the European Bluegrass Music Association

At the General Membership Meeting on 25 October 2023, Bulgarian artist and journalist, Lilly Drumeva-O’Reilly, was elected to the board of the European Bluegrass Music Association (EBMA), together with Piero Biasi, Guido de Groot, Christopher Howard-Williams, Nadia Sardjoe, Angelika Torrie, Ronnie Norton and François Vola.

EBMA represents everybody who is involved with bluegrass music in Europe and its mission is to promote and develop this authentic American genre on the old continent.

Bluegrass is a subdivision of the country music genre, authentic American music which emerged in the 1940s and is performed on traditional instruments such as the banjo, fiddle, mandolin, Dobro guitar and others.

Lilly Drumeva-O’Reilly is a Bulgarian singer, songwriter, journalist, and music producer. She formed Bulgaria’s most successful country and bluegrass band “Lilly of the West” in 1996, which is still going strong today. The group has performed in many European countries and the US, garnering prestigious awards. Lilly has recorded 12 studio albums to date (the latter of which is a collection of Christmas songs, to be released in December 2023). She is a renowned radio and TV presenter and has been hosting music programs for the past 20 years (the BBC, Balkan Bulgarian Television, Bulgarian National Radio). Lilly is also a Fulbright scholar and studied music in Nashville. She is author of the book “In The Mood With Lilly – 50 Music Themes”, a music encyclopedia in the Bulgarian language. Lilly has also built up a reputation as a successful music promoter, organizing tours for American and European artists. She is the director of the Sofia Singer Songwriter Fest, a 5-day festival dedicated to acoustic folk music and poetry.
